United Methodist Women (This group is currently inactive within Calvary and Zion, active within the United Methodist System)

The Northern Door unit of the United Methodist Women (UMW) is an organization that was open to all Calvary and Zion women

PURPOSE:

“The organized unit of UNITED METHODIST WOMEN shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.”

PAST MISSIONS:

Our major emphasis is on missions – past and present – international, national, state, and local.  These are financed through donations and fund raisers and include the following:

  • UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief)
  • Rwanda Home Build
  • Feed My Starving Children
  • Midwest Distribution Center – dignity kits
  • Coventry Care (local no-cost or donation health care)
  • Food Cards for needy families at Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas
  • Bellin College of Nursing (Green Bay)
  • Prayer Shawl and Lap Robe Ministries
  • Red Bird Mission (Kentucky)
  • Prison Ministry
  • Koinonia Kupboard and Feed My People (local food pantries)
  • Wisconsin Conference  In-Gathering
